USA scores 19 aces against Guatemala

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, September 2, 2016 – With powerful service and offense the United States beat Guatemala (25-12, 25-12, 25-10) in Pool B action at the NORCECA U-18 Continental Championship.

 

United States spoiled Guatemalan reception achieving 19 aces and also controlled the offensive attacks 34-9.

 

USA’s Brooklyn Schirmer was the best scorer with 13 points, Kendall Kipp added 10. For Guatemala, Arianne Tenabaum had four points.

 

"I am very happy the way we competed. Now we have to concentrate on playing tomorrow against Barbados. Our focus is game to game and the next is Barbados," said US coach, Erin Virtue.

 

Guatemala head coach, Edgar Callejas said: "We did something, we were playing against a world powerhouse. We were able to push a bit, but experience is necessary. We will continue to work in our reception for the next match".
