Vazquez leads scorers in Puerto Rican League

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, November 2, 2016 – Juan Vazquez, opposite player of Changos de Naranjito, enjoyed nights of 32 and 28 points in the second week of the Puerto Rico Men’s Volleyball Superior League to take over the top place among the circuit’s best scorers.

Vazquez has 108 points (89 in attacks, eight in blocks and 11 aces). The Cuban-born Jorge Mencía of Indios de Mayaguez, is second with 81 points and Ulises Maldonado of Cariduros de Fajardo is next with 79 points.

Vazquez also leads in attacks and aces while Mencia tops the blocking category with 13.

Juan Ruiz of Patriotas de San Juan leads in sets with 132 assists, followed by Edgardo Goas (Indios) with 117.

Veteran Gregory Berrios of Gigantes de Carolina leads with 53 digs while teammate Jose Rivera, who left Sunday’s match with a right foot injury, is the best in reception with 97.

Among the liberos the first place corresponds to Jose Mulero (San Juan) with an average of 8.60 of effectiveness.
