Volleyball and Female Program are the winners

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 7, 2018 – A full house, top star player in action, the do-or-die decisive match of the final series were the ingredients that capped the Women’s Volleyball Superior League won by Caribeñas on Sunday.

More than 5,000 fans filled the stands of the Ricardo Arias Pavilion in Santo Domingo to watch the outcome of the playoffs between Caribeñas and Cristo Rey and were surprised to see Brayelin Martinez playing a key role in the triumph of Caribeñas.

She had not played before but was in uniform every day and decided to get into service when her team was trailing 14-2 in the third set of the match and what a role she played. The slender outside hitter fired 13 points and Caribeñas climbed back to win the third and fourth sets an claim the title.

“The real winner was Dominican volleyball and the Female Program of the Federation because people saw the new breed of players who are under development to secure a good fluid throughout the pipeline,” said Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, the president of the program.

“People could see what we have been doing with our young players and the tournament has been a complete success with the fans supporting our athletes and the efforts of many people involved in the female program”, Marte Hoffiz added.

“Next year the tournament can grow bigger and I am sure many corporations will be interested in sponsoring the event and the teams in particular,” he said. “This is a very promising event and we have the fans to support the teams and the players.”
