World League becomes centre of attention in Mexico
MEXICO CITY, Mexico, June 5, 2014 – With Mexico set to make
their FIVB Volleyball World League debut in only a matter of
days, their matches against Tunisia, Turkey and Cuba are drawing
great interest across the country.
The action at the Sports Palace Juan Escutia in Mexico City
begins on Friday June 6 when Mexico play Tunisia and Turkey face
Cuba. A day later Tunisia and Cuba begin proceedings before
Mexico take on Turkey and then to complete the three days of
action Turkey and Tunisia go head-to-head before Mexico meet
Cuba on Sunday June 8.
“Staff of the Mexican Federation, collaborators and volunteers
has been preparing 24-7 to get everything ready for this
competition,” Jesus Perales Navarro, President of the Mexican
Federation said.
“The event has generated great expectations and we are fully
aware of the challenge that lies ahead as we make our debut in
the World League and as a host city.”
As well as the World League Mexico will also feature in this
year’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in Poland, so
they are keen to hone their skills over the coming weeks.
It also means that the coaches and players have been in high
demand with local media outlets. Tunisia, Turkey and Cuba all
arrived earlier in the week, so by the start of competition the
excitement is likely to be at fever pitch.
“We are pleased to welcome our fellow competitors, hoping them
the best,” Perales added. |
