Mexico Opens the Men’s Pan American Cup with
Straight-Set Victory over Curaçao
MORELOS, Mexico, August 9, 2026.- Mexico opened
its participation in the 2026 Men’s Pan American
Cup with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-14) victory
over Curaçao at Polideportivo 2 of the
Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM).
The host team earned its first victory in Pool
B, in a match in which it gradually increased
its dominance as the sets progressed. Curaçao
had a good start and took the lead in the first
set. The score remained close for much of the
set, with both teams trading control, until
Mexico managed to pull away down the stretch.

Diego Rondón Named MVP of the Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 9, 2026.- Diego Rondón of
Venezuela was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2026
Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup, held from August 4 to 9 in
Guatemala.
Rondón’s leadership and consistency were instrumental in
Venezuela finishing the tournament undefeated and claiming the
championship. He was also recognized as Best Opposite,
reflecting his contribution to the South American team’s
success.
Venezuela earned three additional awards. Benjamín García was
named First Best Spiker, Julio Calles received the Best Server
award, and Jhonny González was recognized as Best Digger.
