Cuba Returns to NORCECA Continental Championship
Podium After 15 Years
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 26,
2026 – Cuba returned to the podium of the
NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship for the
first time since 2011, defeating host Dominican
Republic 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-18) to claim the
bronze medal on Wednesday at the “Prof. Ricardo
Gioriver Arias” Volleyball Palace. The bronze is
Cuba’s 23rd medal in the history of the event
and its third bronze, adding to 13 gold and
seven silver medals. Cuba finished the
competition with a 4-2 record, while the
Dominican Republic closed with a 3-2 record.
Cuba held the advantage in attacks (46-34),
blocks (11-7) and aces (1-0). Both teams
committed 18 unforced errors.

Canada Defeats Mexico in Straight Sets to Stay in the Semifinal
Race
PONCE, Puerto Rico, August 26, 2026. – Canada earned an
important victory to remain in contention for a spot in the
semifinals of the NORCECA Men’s Final Six, defeating Mexico in
straight sets on Wednesday at the Juan “Pachín” Vicéns
Auditorium. The set scores were 25-13, 25-17, 25-17. Canada and
Mexico both moved to 2-2 records. Canada controlled the match
statistically, leading in kills (37-24), blocks (7-3) and aces
(4-1). Canada committed 19 errors, while Mexico registered 27.
Arthur Szwarc led Canada with 12 points, followed by Kale Orr
with 11. For Mexico, Yasutaka Sanay and Juan García scored 9
points each.
