Venezuela to Face Mexico for Fifth Place at
Santo Domingo 2026
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 6,
2026. – Venezuela recovered after dropping the
opening set to defeat Costa Rica 3-1 (23-25,
25-18, 25-21, 25-9) and advance to the fifth-place
match of the women's volleyball tournament at
the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games
Santo Domingo 2026. Venezuela will face Mexico
for fifth place, while Costa Rica will play
Trinidad and Tobago for seventh place. Costa
Rica finished the opening set strongly after a
slow start that saw Venezuela build an early
lead.

Canada Defeats United States to Secure Quarterfinal Berth
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 6, 2026. – Canada defeated the
United States 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 32-30) to secure a spot
in the quarterfinals of the Boys' U17 Pan American Cup at the
Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City. The United States came out
strong and controlled the opening set. Canada responded by
making adjustments and taking control of the match, winning
three closely contested sets. The fourth set provided the day's
most exciting finish, with both teams trading opportunities
before Canada prevailed 32-30.
