Puerto Rico Goes for First Pan American Cup Title after
Defeating Canada
MORELOS, Mexico, August 15, 2026.- Puerto Rico will go in search
of its first Men’s Pan American Cup title after defeating Canada
3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 17-25, 25-20) in the semifinals of the 19th
edition of the tournament, being held at Poliforum 2 of the
Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM). Puerto Rico
advanced to the Pan American Cup final for the third time in the
history of the event and for the first time since 2017. The
Puerto Ricans won the silver medal in their two previous finals,
in 2007 against Mexico and in 2017 against Argentina, and they
also have two bronze medals. The victory had a sense of revenge
for Puerto Rico, which had fallen to Canada in four sets during
the preliminary round.
