Cuba’s Uriarte earns MVP honors

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7, 2012 - Osmany Uriarte of Cuba, the best scorer and best server of the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental Championship, also took home the honors as Most Valuable Player of the competition. Cuba win gold with victory over Mexico in three sets

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7, 2012 - Cuba outclassed Mexico in straight sets (25-14, 25-21, 25-14) to win the gold medal of the NORCECA Boy’s U-19 Continental Championship on Saturday. Nicaragua finish in fifth place

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7 2012.— Nicaragua recovered from a two sets deficit to finish in fifth place after a 3-2 (18-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-12) win over Costa Rica in the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental Championship. Nicaragua’s Ruben Alejandro Mora had 20 points (2 aces), while Ivan Mejia, Christopher Lee Lazo and Yuriel Duarte contributed. More  Español

U.S. Virgin Islands finish seventh

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7 2012 —  The US Virgin Islands team won its first match in the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental Championship to finish in the seventh place of the tournament after beating French Saint Martin 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21). Aseah Thomas and Jordan Evans led the US Virgin Islands with 16 points apiece. For French Saint Martin Stephane Morisseau and Ashille Brooks each tallied 12 each. More  Español

Mexico to play Cuba for the gold

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 6 2012 - Mexico advanced to the finals of the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental Championship by defeating Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-16) in Friday’s semifinals. The host team, already qualified to the U-19 World Championship will match Cuba for the gold medal on Saturday night. Enrique Ugalde finished as the leading scorer with 12 points for Mexico.  More  Español

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 6, 2012 - Nicaragua downed French Saint Martin 3-0 (25-10, 25-19, 25-14) in a match for the 5-8 positions of the NORCECA Boy’s U-19 Continental Championship. Puerto Rico outclass Nicaragua, will play Mexico 

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 5, 2012 — Puerto Rico advanced to a semifinal clash with Mexico in the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental Championship following a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-14) win over Nicaragua. USA win over Costa Rica, reach semis
 

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 5, 2012 - The United States booked a semifinal berth against Cuba in the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental Championship after winning over Costa Rica 3-0 (25- 13,  25-13, 25-16 ) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
