United States Captures NORCECA Title with Sweep of Dominican Republic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 1, 2017 – The United States won the NORCECA Championship with a 25-17, 25-10, 25-12 victory over Dominican Republic on Sunday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.  The United States finished the tournament with a 5-0 record. Guatemala Sweeps Trinidad & Tobago for 5th Place

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado USA (Oct. 1, 2017) – Guatemala capped its NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship by defeating Trinidad & Tobago 25-18, 25-10, 25-15 in the fifth-place match on Sunday afternoon. By claiming fifth place, Guatemala has earned a berth into NORCECA’s second-chance World Championship qualification tournament that will take place later this fall. Guatemala, which finished the tournament with three straight wins after finishing third in the three-team Pool A, was led by Erik Flores and Andy Leonardo’s 13 points apiece, Wagner Chacon contributed 12 points. Canada Qualifies for World Championship with Third-Place Finish

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 1, 2017 – Canada secured its spot in the FIVB World Championship with a 21-25, 25-13, 27-25, 25-18 win over Mexico in the third-place match of the NORCECA Men’s Championship on Sunday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.  Canada finishes the tournament with a 3-1 record and the bronze medal. Mexico finishes 3-2 and will advance to the next four-team world championship qualifier. Mexico led Canada in attacks (51-50). Canada led in aces (6-4) and blocks (10-5).  More  Español

Martinique Rallies Past Costa Rica for 7th Place

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado USA (Oct. 1, 2017) – Martinique concluded its first-ever NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship on a winning note by defeating Costa Rica 10-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 15-12 on Sunday afternoon in the seventh-place match. Martinique’s Rodrigue Larcher scored a team-best 19 points including four blocks. Gregory Alpha added 18 points and Joann Breleur chipped in 14 points.  Costa Rica’s Alberto Blanco scored a match-high 22 points including four aces and three blocks in the losing effort. United States Sweeps Canada in Semifinals

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, September 30, 2017 – The United States got a measure of revenge over Canada on Saturday with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 victory at the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The victory qualifies the U.S. Men (4-0) for the 2018 FIVB World Championship. Dominican Republic Stuns Mexico with 3-0 Semifinal Win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, September 30, 2017 – The Dominican Republic stunned Mexico, 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 in the first semifinal of the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship on Sept. 30 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. With the victory, Dominican Republic qualified for the 2018 FIVB World Championship and will play in Sunday’s gold medal match. Trinidad & Tobago Advances to 5th Place Match

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado USA (Sept. 30, 2017) – Trinidad & Tobago dealt Martinique at 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 loss on Saturday evening in the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship Classification 5-8 match held in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Trinidad & Tobago opposite Ryan Stewart contributed 15 points in the victory, while middle blocker Marc Honore pocketed 13 points with a team-best four blocks. Guatemala Keeps Hopes of Fifth Place Alive with Victory

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, September 30, 2017 – Guatemala made some key substitutions and came back to defeat Costa Rica, 20-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-15 at the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship on Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Guatemala will play the winner of the match between Martinique and Trinidad & Tobago for fifth place on Sunday. The winner of that match will qualify for the next world championship qualifier. After losing the first set, Guatemala substituted setter Adan Ruano for Gerardo Gonzalez and its offense improved. More  Español

St. Vincent Wins Rivalry Match with St. Lucia

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado USA (Sept. 29, 2017) – St. Vincent & the Grenadines rallied to defeat rival St. Lucia 22-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-15 on Saturday afternoon to finish in ninth place at the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship in Colorado Springs, Colorado. St. Vincent & the Grenadines opposite Ronaldo Franklyn powered down 19 kills and three blocks for a match-high 22 points. United States’ Win Sets up Showdown with Canada

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, September 29, 2017 – The United States will be focused on a showdown with Canada after beating Costa Rica 25-11, 25-7, 25-8 on Friday in the quarterfinals of the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The U.S. Men (3-0) advance to Saturday’s semifinal where they will face Canada (2-0). Canada has defeated the United States the last two times they have played.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado USA (Sept. 29, 2017) – Martinique blanked St. Vincent & the Grenadines 25-16, 25-18, 25-16 on Friday during the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship Classification 5-10 round in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Martinique swept St. Vincent & the Grenadines on Thursday to conclude Pool C. Martinique was led by outside hitter Joann Breleur’s 17 points, which included eight aces. United States Sweeps Dominican Republic; Will Play in Quarterfinals

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, September 28, 2017 – The United States won a slugfest against the Dominican Republic, 25-17, 25-21, 25-10 on Thursday at the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The United States (2-0) won its pool while Dominican Republic (1-1) finished second. Mexico defeated Costa Rica

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado USA (Sept. 28, 2017) – Mexico defeated Costa Rica 25-19, 25-16, 25-10 on Thursday in a battle of undefeated teams to conclude the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship pool play in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mexico (3-0) was sparked by Jorge Barajas’ 14 points from his outside hitter position, including six aces and three blocks. Opposite Daniel Vargas added 14 points in the victory. With the victory, Mexico not only won pool C but also gained a berth directly into Saturday’s semifinal round. More  Español

Martinique claims first victory

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado USA (Sept. 28, 2017) – Martinique defeated St. Vincent & the Grenadines 25-10, 25-14, 25-20 on Thursday to conclude pool play at the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship with its first victory in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Joann Breleur led Martinique with a team-high 12 points including six aces. Gregory Alpha and scored seven kills in the victory, while Rodrigue Larcher came off the bench midway through the second set to have seven points. Ronaldo Franklyn and Asmond Franklyn each tallied seven points in the loss for St. Vincent & the Grenadines.  More  Español

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, September 28, 2017 – Canada finished pool play undefeated after its 25-21, 25-12, 25-10 victory over a spirited Trinidad & Tobago on Thursday at the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Trinidad & Tobago finished pool play 1-1. After Trinidad & Tobago played a tough first set, Canada’s serving wore down the Caribbean team. Dominican Republic will play the top-seeded United States on Thursday for the pool victory. Dominican Republic held the height advantage and led Guatemala in spikes (43-29), blocks (9-2) and aces (5-2).
