Andy Leonardo named MVP at AFECAVOL WCQT

 

BELIZE CITY, Belize, September 30, 2016. – Andy Leonardo of Guatemala was named the Most Valuable Player MVP of the AFECAVOL Men’s FIVB World Championship qualification tournament while his team topped the event undefeated.

 

Andy Leonardo was handed out the MVP recognition during the awarding ceremony chaired by Allan Sharp President of the Belize Volleyball Federation and Jose Jimenez Lao NORCECA Supervisor.

 

Presenting awards, along with members of the control committee and of the Belize Volleyball Federation, was Miss Belize Rebecca Raft, who used to be a volleyball player.

 

Also from the winning team Guatemala, Aldo Arias received the award for Best Setter, Erik Flores the award for Best Opposite and Jeyson Nery for the first Best Spiker.

 

Henry Lopez from the second finalist Dominican Republic received the awards for Best Receiver and Best Server.

 

Belize, who finished in third place, also had individual recognitions; Karym Coleman was awarded as the Best Scorer, Yserri Palacio as the second Best Blocker and Keith Castillo as second Best Spiker.

 

Cristopher Navarrete of Nicaragua took home the recognitions of Best Libero and Best Digger. From Panama, Otto Othon was awarded as first Best Blocker.

 

Final Standing: 1. Guatemala; 2. Dominican Republic; 3. Belize; 4. El Salvador; 5. Panama; 6. Honduras; 7. Nicaragua
