Anguilla builds confidence by defeating the British Virgin Islands

Phillipsburg, Sint Maarten Saturday 6th August 2016: Anguilla recognized the enormity of the game, as they defeated the British Virgin Islands with a score of 25-12; 25- 20; 25- 11. Ludie and the ladies did not relent in pressuring their opposition with good serves and sound defense.  Ms. Leveret continued leading her team with fourteen (14) points.  She was well supported by the Janai Gumbs and Rikeisha Leveret, who each scored eight (8) points.

The British Virgin Islands, showed great poise as they managed their fatigue from the previous game and show improvements in serving.  Captain Clement was a true General as she led the way in motivation and scoring (6 points).  Daijha Matthew played a supportive role with her sterling defense. Unfortunately it did not stop team Anguilla.

Anguilla’s Captain, Ludiane Leveret pointed to honest team conversations about the previous game, as part of the catalyst for improvement.  This was complimented by the actual execution of the game plan. Coach Liburd showed how the team’s improved serving resulted in renewed confidence for Anguilla.  He further stated our team still has a chance to prove they are the better team of the tournament.

Captain Sabina Clement indicated the British Virgin Islands team was fatigued from limited recovery time but noted there was an improvement in passing.  Team Coach Stephan Payne made similar observations but also noted a paucity of experienced players was a pivotal element in this game.
