Beach Volleyball Course begins in Santo Domingo

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 7, 2017 – Twenty coaches hailing from Colombia, Costa Rica, Grenada, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Puerto Rico, St Lucia and Venezuela are taking part in an International Beach Volleyball course in Santo Domingo.  

 

The course is under the direction of FIVB Instructor Mauro Hernández of Venezuela with the assistance of Carlos Moreno of Cuba.

 

The course has been organized by the NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development Center in the Dominican Republic and its director Nelson Ramírez.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, first executive vice president of FIVB and president of NORCECA Confederation, as well as Luis Mejia Oviedo, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee.

 

Amos Anglade, member of EC of the Dominican Federation, Indhira Ramirez and Arateide Caceres, directors of beach volleyball and national federations, respectively, and Bernardo Mesa, representing the DR Ministry of Sports, were also present.

 

Marte Hoffiz highlighted the support given by NORCECA to secure the presence of coaches from different countries, and praised their personal effort to participate.

 

He said the Development Center in the Dominican Republic is the most active among all the centers sponsored by FIVB throughout the world organizing more activities than the current active institutions.

 

Mejia Oviedo said to be pleased for visiting the center once again and congratulated its director for his work at the institution since its opening 20 years ago.
