Belize upsets Honduras in U23 AFECAVOL

 

PANAMA CITY, Panama, July 25, 2016 – Belize pulled a major upset by defeating Honduras in five thrilling sets on Monday at José “Beto” Remón Gymnasium of the Panamanian capital.

 

The team of Belize subdued the Honduras side by score of 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11) to claim the win.

 

 

Belize’s captain Bryton Codd had an eye-popping performance of 22 points which included 22 attacks, while Raluni Bernardez chipped in with 16.

 

Belize was consistent in the utilization of their starting line-up with 5 of them playing during the whole match, consisting of   Bernárdez, Anfermee Archer, Yserri Palacios, Francis Hause and Codd.

 

Honduras, which gave away 38 points via unforced errors, had Diego Urbizo as its best scorer with 19 points, followed by the captain German Moreira with 11 points.

 

On Tuesday, Belize plays Costa Rica at 17:00 followed by the match Honduras versus Nicaragua at 17:00.
