Brazil downs Dominican Republic at VNL
RIMINI, Italy, May 26, 2021 –
Brazil downed Dominican Reepublic in straight
sets 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-17) in the second day
at the FIVB Women’s Nations League.
It was the second victory for the
South Americans who won 3-1 against Canada on
opening day. The Dominicans fell to 0-2 after
losing also 3-0 to United States on Tuesday.
Brazilian team captain Fernanda
Rodrigues and Tandara Caixeta each scored 14
points to spearhead the winning effort. Gabriela
Guimaraes added 12 points while veteran middle
blocker Caroline Gattaz contributed 10 points in
the victory.
Gaila Gonzalez and Jineiry
Martinez each had 6 points for the Dominican
Republic and Bethania de la Cruz added 5 points
of her own.
Brazil next meets United States
while Dominican Republic faces Canada to
complete the first round of matches on Thursday. |
