TOKYO, Japan, July 30, 2021 – Canada evened up
its record at 2-2 in the men’s volleyball
tournament of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after
defeating Venezuela 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-13) on
Friday.
The North Americans outscored the South
Americans in every facet of the game, including
attacks (37-25), blocks (12-4), aces (6-2) and
errors (16-20). Venezuela dropped to 0-4.
Nicholas Hoag and Stephen Timothy Maar were the
two best scorers for Canada with 16 and 15
points, respectively. Sharone Vernon-Evans and
Lukas Van Berkel each contributed 5 points in
the victory.
Ronald Fayola topped Venezuela with 9 points,
followed by Emerson Rodriguez with 8 tallies. |
