Chile earns second U21 Pan Am Cup win
Calgary, Aug. 07, 2025: Chile earned its second consecutive win at
the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs
Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta,
Canada.
Today Puerto Rico could not maintain its early momentum, falling 1-3
(25-21, 16-25, 24-26, 22-25) to Chile.
Chile led in attack points (52-40), blocks were even at nine and
Puerto Rico had the advance in aces (7-5). Errors were even at 31
points.
Alvaro Del Campo Guzmán, Chile’s head coach, was clearly pleased
with the performance: "I am happy for two consecutive days of
victories. I think we played a very good match. We didn’t start well
in the first set; it was hard for us to get going. I am very proud
of the team for how they faced the match — in the face of
difficulty, they pushed through, and we played as a team, which is
what we always want. We are going to enjoy this, and we’ll prepare
for tomorrow’s match."
Chile’s Felipe Emilio Rodríguez was his team’s top scorer with 22
points. Middle blocker Eliel David Salva of Puerto Rico also
contributed 22 points for his team.
Chile faces host Canada on Friday. |
