Costa Ricans Cope and Alfaro confirm their status

 

CIUDAD COLON, Costa Rica, December 17, 2016 – Costa Ricans Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro, pre-tournament favorites of the female segment of the Central American Beach Volleyball Championship advanced to the quarterfinals phase where they will face Kathya Vásquez and María Fernanda Vásquez of El Salvador.

 

Cope and Alfaro finished atop of Pool A following a close 2-1 (17-21, 21-19, 15-10) victory over Salvadorians Marcela Ávalos and Laura Molina.

 

The winners of the match Cope/Alfaro and Vásquez/Vargas will meet the winners of the encounter between Marcela Araya and Valeria Valenciana of Costa Rica-2, second placed in Pool B and Christianne Etches and Jarisa Hynds of Honduras, fourth in Pool A.

 

The quarterfinals round also features the matches of María José Orellana and María Andrea Orellana of Guatemala-2  and Ávalos/Molina, and Guatemala’s Nathalia Girón and Estefanie Bethancourt versus Nicaragua’s Lolette Rodríguez and Swan Mendoza.
