Cuba and Mexico have dominated Beach Volley at CACG

 

BARRANQUILLA, Colombia, July 27, 2018 – Cuba in the men’s event and Mexico in the women’s competition have dominated the beach volleyball tournaments since its inception at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1998.

 

Players from those countries each have claimed three gold medals while Mexican players of both genders have stepped on the podium in each of the five tournaments since the first in Maracaibo in 1998.

 

Cuban players won both gold medals in the last tournament held in Veracruz, Mexico 2014 with Sergio González and Nivaldo Díaz earning the men’s title and Lianma Flores and Leila Martínez finishing first among the women.

 

The beach volleyball tournament in Barranquilla is scheduled to kick off on July 28.
