Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico strong candidates in Group A

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 10, 2017 – Host Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico are heavy contenders to win the two vacancies to the FIVB Women’s World Championship available at the NORCECA Group A Qualifier to take place in Santo Domingo from October 13 to 15.

 

The matches will be played at Ricardo Arias Pavilion at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Park with Guatemala and Jamaica completing the four-team competition.

 

The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico are currently ranked 2nd and 3rd in NORCECA while Jamaica and Guatemala are 11th and 12th.

 

The Puerto Rican team is already in Santo Domingo completing their training process after the passage of hurricane Maria over their island causing major devastations and difficulties in communication and electricity power.

 

The matches will be national televised by Telecentro Channel 13 and big crowds are expected to follow the matches of the local squad better known as “The Queens of the Caribbean”.
