SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 24, 2016 – The Dominican Republic Women’s Volleyball National Team that won the gold medal at the FIVB World Grand Prix Group 2 was introduced on Thursday during a press conference held by the organizing committee of the Pan American Cup

Major General Elvio Marcelino Feliz Perez, president of the organizing committee, congratulated each one of the members of the team and the technical staff, while saying the Dominican Team will be a huge attraction for the fans in the Pan American Cup to be held from July 2-10 in Santo Domingo.

Feliz Perez, who is the chief commander of the Dominican Air Force, was accompanied by Luis Mejia Oviedo, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Ramon Garcia, president of the Dominican Volleyball Federation, and Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA Confederation.

“Our Dominican team is source of pride for all the Dominican people and I am sure the fans from all over the country will come to see them in action,” Feliz Pérez said. “They just finished an epic battle at the FIVB World Grand Prix and everybody is eager to watch them performing.”

It was informed that two daily matches –including the one of the Dominican Republic- will be nationally televised.

“We have received a strong support from the private corporations and governmental agencies as well as the Armed Forces,” he said.

“All National Federations and the Olympic Committee will be assisting us with the transportation and the Armed Forces will be in charge of security,” he added. “We are set to have one of the most successful sport events ever organized in the Dominican Republic with twelve national teams of high quality.”
