El Salvador puts pressure in women’s field

 

CIUDAD COLON, Costa Rica, December 16, 2016 – The two female teams representing El Salvador at the XVI Central American Beach Volleyball Championship each scored two victories on opening day.

 

The victories by the Salvadorians somehow put pressure on the so called favorites setting up interesting duels on Saturday to define the semifinalists.

 

In Pool A, Laura Molina and Marcela Ávalos (ESA 2) got two wins as also did Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro (CRC 1). Natalia Girón and Estefanie Bethancourt (GUA 1) are in third place with a 1-1 record after winning over Nicaragua 2 and losing to Cope/Alfaro.

 

In Pool B, the Salvadorians Kathy Vasquez and María Fernanda Vargas (ESA 1) scored two victories that could secure a semifinal spot, including a crucial one over Lolette Rodríguez and Swan Mendoza of Nicaragua 1 in their only match of the day.
