LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 3, 2022 - FIVB
President Dr Ary S. Graça F° has launched the
Volleyball Empowerment platform for the
2022-2023 cycle where all 222 National
Federations (NFs) can apply for the
application-based support and complete the
Volleyball Empowerment survey to be considered
for targeted national team support.
Launched in February 2021, Volleyball
Empowerment is a revolutionary programme that
forms part of the FIVB President’s Nucleus Plan.
The overall goal of the programme is to empower
and improve the level of national teams and
athletes, providing them with the skills to play
at the highest level. Volleyball Empowerment
consists of two key areas of support: targeted
support and application-based support.
In order to apply for the application-based
support or be considered for the targeted
national team support programme, every NF is
required to complete a dedicated survey and
outline their organisation’s current structure
and goals.
Three types of support are available as part of
the application-based support: coach support for
the development of national teams, volleyball
equipment and a knowledge transfer programme.
There are four application windows for coach
support and knowledge transfer programmes, and
one application window for volleyball equipment
support.
Speaking about the 2022-2023 cycle of Volleyball
Empowerment, the FIVB President said:
“I am extremely pleased to announce the launch
of the next cycle of Volleyball Empowerment to
ensure that the money that comes from the sport
continues to be reinvested back into the sport.
“Last year, following feedback from our NFs, we
made our support available for 365 days a year
and now, we have gone even further and give NFs
the opportunity to apply for more than one
project during a year. This will allow NFs with
several good projects to diversify between
various types of support, ensuring they can get
the maximum benefit from Volleyball Empowerment.
“It is also important to note how high our
approval rates are; during the previous cycle,
we approved around 92 per cent of all
applications submitted by our NFs. I highly
recommend that our NFs work towards creating
strong projects and apply for the support, so
that we can best serve volleyball.”
Since 2017, the FIVB has approved 521 projects
from 222 National Federations from all five
Continental Confederations, which totals an
investment of more than 12 million USD (11
million CHF). Of these 521 projects, 208 were
coach support projects in 112 countries, 277
were volleyball equipment projects for 125
countries and 36 were knowledge transfer
programmes for 28 countries.
During the first, second and third windows of
application for the 2021-2022 application-based
support cycle, the FIVB received 97 development
project applications. Of these, 89 projects have
already been approved: 41 coach support
projects, 46 volleyball equipment projects and 2
knowledge transfer projects.
Additionally, nine countries from all five
Continental Confederations were identified for
the targeted support programme in the 2021-2022
cycle.
The FIVB welcomes volleyball and sports
stakeholders and supporters, such as National
Olympic Committees, Ministries of Sport, NGOs,
etc. to join the forces and get involved to
ensure the success of Volleyball Empowerment
projects worldwide. |
