Guatemala dominates Honduras

 

PANAMA CITY, Panama, October 21, 2017 - Guatemala beat Honduras 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-14) in their final duel at the XII Central American U19 Men's Volleyball Championship.

 

The Guatemalan national team has reached 16 points, with three wins and two defeats, and will have to wait for the game between Panama and Nicaragua, for the color of the medal, as Panamanians also arrive with 11 points.

 

Kevin Hoil with 21 points was the best in Guatemala, with Edwin Mejía contributing 16 points. Meanwhile, Honduras had Allan Escoto with 14 points.

 

Although the Hondurans pushed hard in the second set, Guatemala was effective in the attack with 50 points, for just 23 of their opponents; while in block they were 6-4 and in service 7-4. It was also one of the games in which they committed less mistakes added both sides, with 12 by the winners and 22 by the defeated ones.

 

Honduras came to this duel with 2-2 in won and lost, and a win would put them in the fight for the medals, however they found a very united Guatemala, with good serve that made difficult the offensive actions of the Hondurans.
