Guatemala female beach volleyball champion

 

PANAMA, November 11, 2018. Natalia Girón and Estefanie Bethancourt, from Guatemala, entered in the history of volleyball in the region by winning for the first time since 2010 the Central American Beach Volleyball Championship, ending a long streak of Costa Rica, which dominated the women's tournament.

 

The XVIII Central American Championship left Guatemala as champion after defeating 2-0 (21-17, 21-16) to Marcela Araya / Eugenia Ramírez, from Costa Rica.

 

The Costa Ricans have been the great dominators of the Central American Women, with a run of seven consecutive titles since 2010, when Guatemala won the title. Honduras won in the second Central American in 1994, Guatemala also won it in consecutive years 2006-2007, and the rest has been for Costa Rica.

 

Araya / Ramírez (CRC 1) beat Swan Mendoza / Socorro López, of Nicaragua, in the semifinal, with scores 21-13, 21-16, while Girón / Bethancourt won (2-0) 21-18, 21-17 to Salvadorans Kathya Vásquez / María Fernanda Vargas.

 

In the match for the third place, Salvadorans and Nicaraguans fought for the bronze medal, but at the end it was for Vásquez / Vargas, who won 2-1 (18-21, 21-17, 15-11) to Mendoza / López.Guatemala campeón del voleibol de playa femenino.
