Hato Mayor women’s semifinals to repeat in Cayman Islands
SEVEN MILE BEACH, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, November 12, 2022.-
Women’s semifinals of Hato Mayor this past weekend between Puerto Rico
and Canada, as well as USA against Dominican Republic will repeat in
Cayman Islands, the seventh stage of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour.
Allanis Navas and María González of Puerto Rico will face Canadians
Amanda Harnett and Marie-Alex Bélanger once again in Sunday’s first
semifinal. This past weekend Navas and González came on top and won the
title of Hato Mayor.
In the other semifinal, United States will meet Dominican Republic,
Teegan Van Gunst/Katie Lindstrom against Bethania Almanzar/Crismil
Paniagua; Almanzar played with Esmeralda last weekend.
The gold medal match could be a repeat between Navas/González and Van
Gunst/Lindstrom.
Navas/González won pool B to Van Gunst/Lindstrom 2-0 (21-19, 26-24) and
then they went on to beat Ivone Soler and Sofía Velásquez of El Salvador
by a comfortable 2-0 (21-7, 21-8) in the quarterfinal round.
Van Gunst and Lindstrom resolved well their quarter final match by a 2-0
(21-16, 21-14) win against Molley McBain/Lea Monkhouse of Canada who
earlier beat Gutiérrez/Ibarra of Mexico 2-0 (21-10, 21-16) to win pool
A.
Canadians Amanda Harnett and Marie-Alex Bélanger beat Ileann Powery/Jessica
Wolfenden of Cayman Islands 2-0 (21-14, 21-17) in quarterfinals. Earlier
they finished first place of pool C after defeating Alexandria Ashman/Chevonna
Lewis of Jamaica 2-0 (21-8, 21-6).
While Dominicans Bethania Almanzar/Crismil Paniagua, pool D winners,
dominated their quarterfinal match without difficulties against Ximena
Núñez/Isabela Rodríguez of Costa Rica 2-0 (21-8, 21-5).
Sunday’s schedule starts at 9:00 am with placing matches followed by the
semifinals. |
