TOKYO, Japan, July 26, 2021 –
Host Japan recovered from losing the first set
to defeat Canada 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-23,
25-20) in Pool A of the men’s volleyball
tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on
Monday.
Japan improved its win-loss record to 2-0 while
Canada dropped to 0-2 after losing to Italy in
five sets in their first outing.
The tandem of Yuki Ishikawa and Yuji Nishida
registered 22 and 21 points, respectively, as
the best Japanese scorers. Ran Takahashi chipped
in with 10 points in the victory.
John Gordon Perrin finished with 20 points for
Canada while Sharone Vernon-Evans added 10 in
the losing effort. |
