Level 1 Coaches Course opens in St. Thomas

 

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands, June 28, 2017 – An FIVB Level 1 Coaches Course under the Olympic Solidarity program is currently running in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands as part of the school and national program. The same course was held on St. Croix in 2007 with seventeen physical education teachers and coaches participating. 

 

This year seventeen coaches and physical education teachers hailing from St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John are also taking part in the course that began on Wednesday and will conclude on Sunday July 2, 2016.

 

The course is under the direction of FIVB Instructor, Tony Westman.  

 

“I really believe in the good and solid formation as the ideal way to grow,” said Westman while addressing the participants hailing from the Virgin Islands at the opening ceremony.

 

Alice Joseph, vice president of the Virgin Islands Volleyball Federation welcomed the participants in the activity which was attended by Lucille Hobson, president of the organization. 

 

Lucille Hobson, president of the Virgin Islands Volleyball Federation, said that all of the participants are involved in the national or school program in the Virgin Islands. 

 

The course includes theoretical and practical sessions and all the participants will receive certificates after completing all the requirements.

 

The National Federation of Virgin Islands praised the VIOC President Angel Morales and NORCECA's President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz for all the support and encouragement throughout the years. They also praised FIVB President Ary Graca for their assistance in making this course possible. 

 

The Virgin Islands Volleyball Federation will continue to promote the practice of volleyball in the Virgin Islands through the schools as it is designed in their strategic plan.
