Marte Hoffiz inducted into Dominican Hall of Fame

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 17, 2016 – FIVB First Executive Vice President and President of NORCECA Cristobal Marte Hoffiz was inducted into the Dominican Republic Sport Hall of Fame in a ceremony attended by FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° on Sunday.

Marte Hoffiz was one of 15 inductees on occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the institution which included former player Cosiris Rodríguez.

He received a plaque and a ring from Dr. Luis Schecker Ortiz and Dr. Carlos Lamarche Rey, president and vice president, respectively, of the hall of fame.

Marte Hoffiz was recognized for his contributions to the development of women’s volleyball in the Dominican Republic for more than two decades.

Under his leadership the Dominican teams have won international tournaments at all levels, including the FIVB U-20 World Championship in 2015 and the FIVB World Grand Prix Group 2 earlier this year.

“This award in a stage of my life where I am still active working in favor of the sport that I love, means an ineluctable commitment that I assume under oath in front of all of you to continue working for the rest of my days looking to achieve new goals and to enjoy new satisfactions,” he said in his acceptance speech.

“Thanks to the voters members who saw in my sporting and personal conduct the qualities to belong to the exclusive group of our sports figures who will never perish with the passage of time or the storms of history”, he added.

The ceremony was attended by several players of the senior women’s national team as well as members of girls who are taking part of the development program sponsored by Marte Hoffiz.
