Marte Hoffiz projects players as future Olympic stars

HAVANA, Cuba, March 28, 2017- The president of NORCECA Confederation Cristobal Marte Hoffiz welcomed the players from 10 countries taking part in the U18 Girls’ Pan American Cup which he projected as future Olympic stars.

Marte Hoffiz pronounced the central speech at the opening ceremony of the competition following the parade of the teams around the court of the Sports Palace in Havana.

He thanked the organizers for once again receiving in Havana “the future stars of the volleyball of the continent in an event that offers three tickets to the world championship.”

He expressed gratitude to the support given by the Sport Institute and the Cuban Olympic Committee to the Cuban Volleyball Federation to continue hosting events and working for the future of a new generation of the Morenas del Caribe, a generation that treasured three Olympic gold medals.

“You will be the future stars of the 2020 and 2014 Olympic Games so you have to follow those role models to continue offering glory, satisfaction and joy to your countries,” he said.

Marte Hoffiz also praised the participation of teams from Argentina and Dominican Republic who are already qualified to the world championship.

“In spite of their conditions as qualified teams, everyone is doing their best to get points for the regional and the intercontinental rankings like the Argentineans, qualified as host organizers, and the Dominicans, who are continental champions,” Marte Hoffiz said.
