Mexican Rangel leads Puerto Rican League scorers

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 21, 2017 – Mexican Andrea Rangel continues atop of the scoring department of the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League while Puerto Rican Sarai Alvarez is the new leader in spikes percentage.

 

Rangel of Orientales de Humacao has scored 329 points, twelve more than American Erin Fairs of Polluelas de Aibonito who is second with 317.

 

Alvarez of Indias de Mayaguez is only 43 points shy of the league’s all-time scoring record. She is tied with Rangel with 286 spikes but has a better average per set with 4.03 to 3.67.

 

With 301 points, good for the fourth place among the scoring leaders, Alvarez is the best Puerto Rican in that category.

 

American Paige Tapp of Valencias de Juncos is the best blocker with 50, followed by Cuban-born Dulce Tellez of Leonas de Ponce with 49 and Karina Ocasio of Criollas de Caguas who is third with 46.

 

Rookie Karla Santos of Humacao registered five aces last Saturday to break away in the service category with 31, eight more than Ashley Vasquez of Aibonito.

 

Raymariely Santos of Mayaguez is the best setter setter with 352 assists and an average of 5.18 per set while Debora Seilhamer of Aiboonito is the new leader among the defense department with 394 digs, followed by Katherine Santiago of Humacao with 388.

 

 Stephanie Salas of Naranjito is the leader in receptions with 270 passes and is also the best libero with a 9.82 % of effectiveness.
