Mexican Stephens is the MVP of U19 Boys Pan Am Cup 

MONTERREY, Mexico, March 25, 2017 – Raymond Stephens of Mexico was recognized as Most Valuable Player of the U19 Boys’ Pan American Cup that concluded on Saturday at “Nuevo Leon Gym”.

Stephens also won the Best Receiver and Best Server Awards of the tournament that also gave three tickets to the Age Group World Championship to be played in Bahrain.

Also from Mexico, his teammates Jonathan Cabrera and Axel Tellez were in the All-Star Group. Cabrera was named Best Setter and Tellez received the distinction as Best First Blocker while Chilean Alex Rusch took the Best Second Blocker honors.

Also from Chile, Lucas Lavin was chosen as Best Digger and Best Libero. Best Spikers of the competition were Shavar James of Jamaica and Bayron Valdez of Dominican Republic, while Puerto Rican Gabriel Garcia, who registered 43 points in one match, was distinguished as Best Scorer and Best Opposite.

“It feels great, it is the result of training hard and sacrificing, it feels really great,” said Stephens about being MVP. “Bahrein will be my first indoor World Championship after playing in Cyprus in beach volleyball, I will give my best as I did on the sand. People supported us a lot, we appreciate that.”
