Moreno finishes with tournament-record 174 points

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 10, 2016 – Kenny Moreno scored 22 points to lead Colombia to a 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-17, 25-13) over Venezuela in the match for seventh place at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Sunday.

Both teams have earned tickets to next year’s FIVB World Grand Prix with the groups to be determined later.

Moreno, who turned 37 in January but looks in terrific shape, finished the tournament with a new record of 174 points, shattering the previous mark set of 151 set by Puerto Rican Aury Cruz in 2009. Dayana Segovia and Lorena Zuleta chipped in with 14 and 12 points, respectively, in the victory.

Sharlin Bidean and Desiree Glod got 10 points apiece for Venezuela while Aleoscar Blanco and Angerlis Colmenares finished with 9 points each.

Colombia outblocked Venezuela 13-3 and held a slight margin of 4-2 in aces. The winners gave away 20 points via errors to 28 by the defeated side.
