Tegucigalpa, Honduras. September 1, 2018. Nicaragua took seventh place in the NORCECA U18 Women's Continental Championship by winning 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-14) to Barbados.

Nicaragua dominated in attack 29-19, blocking 4-3 and serving 15-6, with Masiel Brenes scoring 14 points and 12 of María Belén Arcia. Teinneille Chapman scored 10 for Barbados, who made 27 unforced errors for 25 of his opponents.

The captain of Nicaragua, María Belén Arcia, said that "I had never had the opportunity to be a starter, less a captain, in a tournament of this magnitude. It's a great responsibility, but I liked having the experience of playing against great teams like the United States, the Dominican Republic, countries that are powerful in volleyball. "

"We learn a lot not only in the game, also off the court, discipline, training, these are tournaments in which physical condition is super important, and for all that is the discipline that makes the difference."

Claudia Noguera, coach of Nicaragua: "This was a very strong tournament, teams that have years of development in this category, such as the United States, Dominican Republic, Cuba ... we come to participate and try to get a better place in the ranking".

"It was a great effort that the girls made, they have a nice experience and a commitment from each one to keep improving for the development of volleyball in Nicaragua."
