Nicaragua leads AFECAVOL U23 with 2-0 mark

 

PANAMA CITY, Panamá, Jjuly 26, 2016 – Nicaragua took first place in the standings at the U23 Men’s Central American Volleyball Championship for the José “Beto” Remón Cup, by defeating Honduras 3-1 (20-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-19) in the second day of the competition in Panama City.

 

The Nicaraguans recovered from the setback in the first set, to dominate Honduras in the next three. The victory leaves Nicaragua atop of the standings as the only team with two victories without losses, followed by Guatemala with one win and no defeats.

 

Nicaragua’s Jonny Zeledon was the top scorer with 19 points, followed by Denis Garcia and Christofer Lazo, who contributed 10 and 9 points, respectively, in the victory. William Thompson had 13 points for Honduras, 11 by attacks and two aces, and German Moreira added nine points.
