Parade of Stars in Tobago Beach Tournament

TURTLE BEACH, Tobago, November 19, 2015 – The seventh and final stage of the 2015 NORCECA Circuit is set to take place at Turtle Beach in the island of Tobago with a legion of stars never seen before in the history of the competition which started in 2007.

The fact that the NORCECA final will count for Olympic qualification points as well as for participation has brought here top world teams currently battling for direct berths to the Rio de Janeiro Games. Teams may use only one Continental Final as one of their 12 events required for qualification to the Olympics.

The United States are sending two big men’s teams with Jacob Gibb/Casey Patterson and Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena.

Gibb/Patterson lead the American men’s teams for the overall provisional Olympic rankings with 4,320 points while Dalhausser/Lucena, fresh from winning the silver medal in Qatar, are third with 3,100. The two USA women’s teams are Lauren Fendrick/Brooke Sweat and Jennifer Kessy/ Emily Day.

Canada is fielding the men’s duos of Chaim Schalk/Ben Saxton) and Grant O’Gorman/Sam Pedlow and the women’s teams of Jamie Broder/Kristina Valjas) and Melissa Humana/Taylor Pishcke.

The men’s segment also includes this year’s two-time winners Lombardo Ontiveros/Juan Virgen of Mexico and Cuba’s Nivaldo Díaz/Sergio González.

The second Cuban team consists of Karell Pina/Daisel Quesada who won this year in Punta Cana while hosts Trinidad & Tobago will be represented by three teams including the one formed by Fabien Whitfield/Daneil Williams who have finished third in the last two competitions.
