Record of participants in Refereeing Course in Santo Domingo

 

   

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 11, 2016 – The Dominican Republic Volleyball Federation opened on Friday a national course for referees, scorers and line judges with a record of 96 participants.

 

The course runs until Sunday and is organized by the NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development Center in Dominican Republic which operates at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo.

 

Salvador Bautista, member of the NORCECA Refereeing Commission, and Bienvenido Mateo, member of the NORCECA VIS and Statistics Commission who underlined that besides the theoretical sessions the course include practical sessions with real games in order to offer comprehensive instructions.

 

Ramón García, president of the Dominican Republic Federation welcomed the participants hailing from the 32 provincial associations and expressed gratitude to NORCECA Confederation presided over by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, which is supporting the training course for a third consecutive year.

 

Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, encouraged the participants to transfer their experience throughout their respective communities and to become regional leaders.

 

The Ministry of Sports of the Dominican Republic was represented by the deputy minister Anibal Portorreal.

 

Nelson Ramírez, director of the NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development Center said those who pass the course will receive a national card authorizing to officiate in events organized by the provincial associations and the age group tournaments of the national federation.
