TOKYO, Japan, August 5, 2021 – Russia defeated
reigning Olympic champions Brazil 3-1 (18-25,
25-21, 26-24, 25-23) in the first men’s
semifinal of the volleyball tournament at Tokyo
2020 Olympic Games on Thursday.
In the close match, both teams made 26 errors
and the winners held the advantage in attacks
58-51. Brazil had the upper hands in blocks 8-7
and aces 8-3.
Maxim Mikhaylov led Russia with 22 points and
Yoandy Leal was the best Brazilian with 18
points.
In the other semifinal, France defeated
Argentina 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22).
Trevor Clevenot and Earvin Ngapeth led France
with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Facundo Conte had 13 for Argentina. |
