St. Martin stuns St. Kitts and Nevis in a three set stunner

MARIGOT, St. Martin, October 30, 2016 - With a gold medal and bragging rights at stake, St. Martin brushed aside St. Kitts and Nevis in a three set  thriller, with a score of 25- 22; 25-23; 26- 24. Jacqueline Hodge led the way with thunderous hits through the middle and the outside, which perforated the defense. Her exploits produced a total of nineteen points and eleven blocks.  She was well supported by team captain Valerie Damaseau.

St. Kitts and Nevis displayed a wealth of character despite the loss.  Captain Henry marshaled her troupes but it was insufficient to quench St. Martin.  Despite the loud partisan crowd and unforced errors, Shanicia Dyer led the attack for St. Kitts and Nevis with eight points.

Winning Coach Legras and Captain Damaseau were elated at winning the gold medal and advancing to the second round.  They gave high praise to their opponents and note the home support.  Both parties stated individuals win individual awards but a team wins a championship.

Coach Collins and Captain Henry of team St. Kitts and Nevis, ever gracious in defeat congratulated the winning team and took solace in knowing they have advanced to round two.  Captain Henry was very thankful for her cohorts and has indicated team St. Kitts and Nevis will be back.
