Tobago pools determined at General Technical Meeting

 

   

TURTLE BEACH, Tobago, November 19, 2015 – The pools composition for the seventh and final stage of the 2015 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit at Tobago was determine don Thursday night during the General Technical Meeting held at Grafton Beach Resort.

Twenty teams per gender are taking part in the double-gender competition from Friday 20 to Sunday 22. The top two teams of each pool will advance to the single elimination main draw.

A total of forty-eight matches will be played on Friday starting at 8:00 with the women’s matches of United States-A versus Trinidad & Tobago-B and El Salvador versus Cuba-B. In the men’s division United States-A takes on Costa Rica-B.

Women’s Pool Composition

Pool A: United States-A, El Salvador, Honduras, Cuba-B, Trinidad & Tobago-B. Pool B: Canada-A, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Grenada, Mexico-B. Pool C: Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago-A, US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, United States-B. Pool D: Mexico-A, Cuba-A, St Lucia, St Kitts & Nevis, Canada-B

Men’s Pool Composition

Pool A: United States-A, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Cuba-B, Costa Rica-B. Pool B: Canada-A, Mexico-A, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago-C, United States-B. Pool C: Trinidad & Tobago-A, Costa Rica-A, St Lucia, Canada-B, Mexico-B. Pool D: Cuba-A, Guatemala, Aruba, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago-B.

Teams of fifth place will play for the 17-20 positions, teams of fourth place will compete for the 13-16 places, and teams of third place will meet for the 9-12 positions. The losers of the quarterfinals will play for 5-8 positions.

Mushtaque Mohamed, president of the control committee, and Daymian Stewart, president of the Trinidad & Tobago Volleyball Federation addressed the players during the technical meeting welcoming the participants and explaining the competition system as well as the transportation and meals.

Sean Scott is the director of the competition while Miguel Ramirez is the referee delegate.
