TOKYO, Japan, July 25, 2021 – United States
women emulated their fellow men compatriots by
winning their first match in Pool B dispatching
Argentina 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) to kick off
the female volleyball tournament at the Tokyo
Olympic Games.
The Americans dominated in attacks 44-38, blocks
9-6, and 5-0 in aces. The winners made 15 errors
to 17 by the losers.
Jordan Thompson spearheaded the attack of United
States with 18 points. She was joined by
Michelle-Bartsch-Hackley and Jordan Larson with
10 and 8, respectively.
Erika Mercado led Argentina with 14 points,
followed by Paula Nizetich with 7 points. |
