Benjamin Patch of USA Wins MVP of NORCECA Men’s Junior Championship

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA (Sept. 1, 2012) – Benjamin Patch, an opposite hitter for the United States, was selected as the most valuable player of the 2012 NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship that concluded Sept. 1 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Patch helped the United States defend its title of the biennial NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship with 19 points in the gold-medal match against Canada.  More  Español

Mexico Sweeps Puerto Rico in Bronze Match

Colorado Springs, USA, September 1, 2012 - Mexico defeated Puerto Rico 25-12, 25-21, 25-16 in the 2012 NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship bronze-medal match Saturday afternoon at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Mexico secured the third and final spot available to NORCECA into the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Junior World Championship in Turkey. In addition, the bronze medal represents Mexico’s first-ever medal in the age-group. Puerto Rico was attempting to earn is fifth overall medal in the event as it had won silver.  More  Español

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA (Aug. 31, 2012) – Honduras rallied past Curacao 25-27, 25-19, 27-25, 25-19 Friday afternoon during the NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Honduras will now advance to the fifth-place place on Saturday at 13:00 and will face Guatemala, while Curacao will play St. Vincent and the Grenadines at 11:00 on Saturday for seventh place.Ricardo Vasquez led Honduras with 17 points, while teammates Jose Vasquez contributed 15 points and Frank Alley 13 points. Mexico Downs Guatemala to Reach NORCECA Semifinals

Colorado Springs, USA, August 30, 2012 - Mexico turned back Guatemala 25-23, 25-17, 25-23 in a NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship quarterfinal round match on Thursday evening at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Mexico will now face Pool B winner Canada on Friday at 15:00, while Guatemala will face St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday in a Classification 5-8 match at 11:00. Mexico had four players score in double-digit points led by Jesus Alberto Perales’ 14 points. Roberto Rincon and Sergio Perez added 12 points, followed by Jose Martinez with 11 points.  More  Español

Colorado Springs, USA, August 29, 2012 - Canada won Pool B of the NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship by defeating Puerto Rico 25-13, 25-15, 28-30, 25-12 on Wednesday afternoon at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. By winning the pool, Canada (3-0) advances directly to Friday’s semifinal round and Puerto Rico (2-1) will challenge Pool A’s third-place team in a quarterfinal match on Thursday. Guatemala Takes Down Curacao in First Win 

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA (Aug. 29, 2012) – Guatemala won its first match of the NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship with a 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18 victory over Curacao on Wednesday afternoon at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. With the victory, Guatemala (1-2) advances to Thursday’s quarterfinal round as the third-place team in Pool B. Curacao (0-3) will begin the 5-8 classification matches on Friday against an opponent to be determined. Guatemala was led in scoring by Gerardo Antonio Gonzalez Paz with 23 points. Colorado Springs, USA, August 28, 2012 - Canada defeated Curacao 25-13, 25-7, 25-22 Tuesday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in Pool B of the NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship. Canada concludes pool play on Wednesday against Puerto Rico at 15:00, while Curacao (0-2) looks for its first victory on Wednesday against Guatemala at 11:00. Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA (Aug. 27, 2012) – The United States opened its title defense of the NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-16 victory over Honduras Monday evening at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gregory Petty paced the United States with 13 points including four aces, while Matthew Tarantino added nine points in just two sets of play. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, August 26, 2012 - On the eve of the 2012 NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship (U-21) being held Aug. 27 to Sept. 1 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., optimism abounds for all eight countries competing for three spots into the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Junior World Championship. Men’s U-21 begins next Monday 

COLORADO SPRINGS, United States, August 24, 2012 - The U-21 NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship gets underway on Monday in Colorado Springs, Colorado.The NORCECA (North America, Central American and Caribbean) event, which is held bi-annually, will qualify three teams from the confederation for the 2013 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship to be held in Turkey. The eight participating teams are divided in two pools of four with Pool A consisting of United States, Mexico, Honduras and St. Vincent and Pool B composed by Canada, Guatemala, Curacao and Puerto Rico. The first place team in each group gets a bye to the semifinals.  More  Español
