Mexico grabs gold medal at U-20 Pan Am Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, March 23, 2013 – Mexico was crowned champions of the U-20 Women' U-20 Pan American Cup after a 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 14-25, 25-15) victory over Dominican Republic at Coliseo de Ciudad Deportiva in Havana on Saturday. Colombia won bronze medal

HAVANA, Cuba, March 23, 2013 - Colombia defeated Peru in three sets (25-22, 25-16,25-21) to win the bronze medal in the U20 Women's Pan American Cup. The Colombians were better in attack points (35-30), blocks (11-7) and service winners (6-2). Melissa Reid (13), Danna Escobar (11) and Yvonne Montano (10) were the best for Colombia while Peruvians Andrea Urrutia and Angela Leyva each had 8 points. Colombia defeated Cuba 3-1 (25-16, 25-21, 27-29, 25-13) and advanced to the semifinals of the Women's U-20 Pan American Cup that concludes on Saturday at Coliseo Ciudad Deportiva. HAVANA, Cuba, March 20, 2013 - Mexico defeated Peru in three sets (25-18, 25-12, 28-26) and advanced undefeated to the Friday’s semifinals as leader of the Pool A of the U-20 Women’s Pan American Cup. In their third victory the Mexicans dominated in all departments to beat the Peruvians in attack, block and service. Second victory for Puerto Rico

HAVANA, Cuba, March 19, 2013 - Puerto Rico grabbed its second win by easily defeating Costa Rica in straight sets (25-9, 25-5, 25-11) on Tuesday in Group B of the Women's U-20 Pan American Cup.
