Bahamas take most of the individual spoils in Group I World qualifiers

 

Marigot, St. Martin,  August 12, 2013 – When the dust settled after the completion of the FIVB’s Men World Cup Qualifiers, Group I, Bahamas  took way most of the individual awards.

 

Crowd favourite Princ Tanique Wilson was heads and shoulders above everyone in the scoring category with a total of 81. Second place Rotilio Richardson had a distant 47. Wilson was also adjudged as Best Spiker with a 54 % success rate while raining down 63 spikes throughout the tournament. He then cradled the trophy as best server as his 14 aces were well away from the next best with 5.

 

Bahamas also took away the trophies for Best Digger and Best Receiver in Jamaal Ferguson who tallied 20 digs at an average of 1.33 per set and had 56 excellent receptions. Nicaragua’s Tito Valdivia was a close second (18) in the Best Diggers category and his teammate David Jimenez (43) was second in the Receiving category with 18. Ferguson added a third award to his cupboard his Excellents (5.07 per set) were well above the other three Liberos.

 

The Bahamas parade was interrupted by Alain London of Barbados who took home the best setter award with an average of 6.62 per set. Here tony Simon of Bahamas was second.

 

St. Martin pick up a single award – the best blocker in Rotilio Richardson as his 9 kills were the highest of the competition.
