Brazil qualifies to WGP Finals

CUIABA, Brazil, July 23, 2017 – Brazil’s Adenizia Da Silva and USA’s Carli Lloyd proved to be the masters in what was a real block party between the two teams in their last FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2017 match before the finals.

Brazil needed the victory to book their ticket to Nanjing and, with the support of 11 thousand on the stands, got it – 3-1 (25-20, 25-13, 18-25, 25-18).

Da Silva and Lloyd piled up five kill blocks each and were the main contributors to Brazil’s overall 17 and USA’s 15 in the match. Adenizia scored a total of 18 points, second only to her teammate Natalia Pereira with 19.

In Bangkok, Thailand, Turkey defeated Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-14, 33-31, 25-23).

Poles Uslupehlivan was the leading point of her team, scoring 19 points for Turkey.

Uslupehlivan scored 17 points in attack and one each in block and serve. The best scorer of Dominican Republic Jeoselyna Santos, who scored all her 12 points in attack.

Turkey felt strong on block, scoring 13 points, including 3 each by Hands Baladin, Dicle Our Babat and Gamze Alikaya, but it was Dominican Annerys Vargas Valdez who shined in that element, scoring impressive 6 points.
