Caguas and Juncos qualify to semis in Puerto Rico

 

   

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico, April 13, 2015 – Caguas secured a berth in the semifinal round of the Puerto Rican Women’s Volleyball Superior League with a straight-set (24-26, 27-25, 25-22, 25-18) over winless Carolina on Sunday.

 

The victory of Caguas (2-1, win-loss record) over Carolina (0-3) also guaranteed the advance of the undefeated Juncos (2-0) in the Series A of the quarterfinals.

 

Both Juncos and Caguas will continue battling for the top place of Series A.

 

Caguas, coming from suffering a loss to Juncos on Saturday, benefitted from a 30-point performance of Karina Ocasio, who was seconded by 20 points from Regan Hood and 17 provided by Stephanie Enright.

 

Rachel Kidder had 25 in the losing cause, followed by Vanessa Velez, who finished with 19 points.

 

Ponce team is already qualified in the Series B with a 3-0 mark. Cataño is next at 1-1 as they close the quarterfinals with a pair of matches at home on Monday against Ponce and the next day against Mayaguez (0-3).
