Caguas with slight lead in Puerto Rico

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 17, 2014 – Caguas moved to the top of the standings in the Puerto Rican Women’s Volleyball Superior League, one point ahead of Ponce, following its 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) victory over Humacao on Sunday.

 

Stephanie Enright, once again in a starting role after missing almost one month with a right leg injury, led Caguas with 16 points. Alexandra Oquendo and Falyn Fonoimoana added 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the victory.

 

Jekaterina Stepanova and Kim Willoughby each registered 10 points in the losing effort.

 

In the other match on Sunday, Juncos scored a straight-set (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) victory over Cataño with Hannah Werth leading the scoring charts with 24 points.

 

Gina Mambru had 15 points for the defeated side.

 

Also this week, Ponce suffered two defeats to the hands of Guaynabo while Mayaguez scored two wins over Carolina.
