Costa Rica to defend beach titles in both genders

 

   

PUERTO CORTES, Honduras, June 12, 2015 – Defending champions teams of Costa Rica step on the sands of Puerto Cortes as the XV Central American Beach Volleyball Tournament kicks off on Friday.

 

While the seven countries of the region will be represented in the men’s competition only Belize will be absent in the women’s event.

 

Teams in both genders have been distributed in three pools with the top two teams and the best two third place pairs advancing to the single elimination bracket.

 

Reigning women’s champions Natalia Alfaro and Karen Cope will be out to defend their title while Diego Alpizar will partner Julio Alvarez in the men’s division.

 

Women’s Pools:

 

Pool A: Honduras-1, Panama, Costa Rica-2. Pool B: Costa Rica-1, Nicaragiua-1, Guatemala-2, El Salvador-2. Pool C: Guatemala-1, El Salvador-1, Honduras-2, Nicaragua-2.

 

Men’s Pools:

 

Pool E: Honduras-1, Panama, Belize, Guatemala-2. Pool F: Costa Rica-1, Nicaragua-1, Honduras-2, El Salvador-2. Pool G: Guatemala-1, El Salvador-1, Costa Rica-2, Nicaragua-2.
