Dr Norberto Santiago passes away in Puerto Rico

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, December 5, 2012 – The NORCECA Confederation is deeply saddened to announce the death of Dr Norberto Santiago of Puerto Rico, secretary of our Medical Commission, last Saturday.

Dr Santiago took part in several international competitions of NORCECA as part of the Control Committee and the Medical Commission benefited from his wisdom and contributions over the years.

“We are very sad to learn the news,” Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA said from Lausanne, Switzerland. “Dr. Santiago contributed to the growth of our medical commission and participated in all our annual meetings with dedication and enthusiasm. He will be missed.”

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rican National Volleyball Federation as general manager of the teams Gigantes de Adjuntas and the Caribes de San Sebastian.

The funerals will be on Wednesday and the mortal remains will be buried on Thursday at the municipal cemetery of Adjuntas, his native town.
