Verania Willis named MVP
SAN
SALVADOR, El Salvador,
December 7, 2012 –
Verania Willis of
Costa Rica was named
the Most Valuable Player of the
Central American
Women's Volleyball Cup
won by his team with
a perfect record.
Willis received also
the awards as the best attacker
and best blocker
of competition while
Ruth Gomez, of
Nicaragua, was the
top scorer.
Maria Alejandra
Flores of El Salvador
was the best
in serves and
Marie Franz
Burmeister, of
Guatemala, was the
best setter.
Walda Maldonado,
of Guatemala,
won the awards as as
best receiver, defender
and libero of the
tournament.
Willis was very
pleased by
both individual and collective
achievements.
"I am super happy
after achieving the goal
we had and it's good
to meet them," said
the veteran player.
"We have certain
weaknesses you
have to work, you should never stop
training, so things
become easier during
the game."
With respect to
individual leaderships
Willis said
that "each of the
trophies are not won
without the other
players, not only
the five that are on
the court but also those
outside ... even
we can’t win
anything without the coaches and
other people who
stayed in
Costa Rica who support us." |
