SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, November 12,
2021 – The Development Commission of NORCECA
will be named in honor of the late Jacques
Joachim of Haiti who passed away last June.
The proposal to honor Mr. Joachim was submitted
by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA,
and received the unanimous approval from all the
members of the Executive Committee and Board of
Administration during its virtual meeting on
Friday.
Before the start of the meeting it was observed
one minute of silence in remembrance of the
venerable sport leader.
Joachim, one of the founders of NORCECA,
presided over the Haitian Volleyball Federation
for more than three decades and served as Vice
President of the continental association.
During his lifetime Mr. Joachim received
numerous recognitions including the Mintonette
Medallion of Merit Award presented by the
International Volleyball Hall of Fame for
significant and individual achievement. He also
received the Order of the Grand Cross – Silver
from FIVB. |
