Dominican Boys travel to Brazil for a friendly tournament

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 29, 2019 – The Dominican Republic’s U19 Boys Volleyball National Team will participate in a four-side tournament to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil ahead of the world championship in Tunisia.

The team traveled today to the South American country to join the squads of Brazil, Argentina and Colombia for the friendly competition.

Nelson Ramirez, director of the Male Program of the Dominican Federation, commented that this is the first time they have the chance to play in Brazil, which is considered a house power in volleyball.

“The boys will have the opportunity to prepare before the event in Tunisia,” Ramírez said. “The chance of playing against those South American teams will be worthly.”

He also announced that the Cuban Men’s National Team will visit the Dominican Republic for a seven-game series against its local counterpart following the Pan American Games in Lima.
