TRUJILLO, Peru, July 6, 2019 - The Dominican Republic relied on
its experience and edged Cuba by 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 29-27,

Women's Pan American Cup, which takes place at the Gran Chimú
Coliseum in Trujillo.
The young Cuban team started the game with an aggressive attack
by the ends, but the Dominicans entered into rhythm of game and
with greater concentration in their plays they got their first 3
points in the Pan American match.

were the top scorers with 22, 16, 12 and 10 points respectively.

Dominican coach, Marcos Kwiek: It was not the way we wanted to
start the tournament, but I want to give rotation to the team
and let other players rest. Today we started very slow, they
were very aggressive instead; Then when we had the most balanced
receipt we were able to overcome the game, it was a very intense
game, very difficult.
Coach of Cuba, Leivis García: Dominican team showed today a very
level game, they knew how to get out from behind. Despite the
result, I am happy for the girls, they were very disciplined in
the tactical point of view; but they are young team and lacked a
bit more determination, however it was a good match.
Dominican Republic will open the day of this Sunday, July 7,
playing at 4:00 p.m. against Guatemala.
Then, Cuba will face Canada at 6:00 p.m.
